The Centres for Learning, Research and Innovation in LTC (CLRI) have published an article about the Glebe Centre's implementation of the Butterfly Model. The Butterfly Model is one of the better known models of care which "emphasizes the importance of emotion-based care, connecting people in a dignified way through person-centred approaches." Quality of life for the residents through empathy, meaningful engagement and building relationships is integral to this model of care.

The Ontario Government recently announced $35 Million in funding to support LTC residents with complex needs. This investment will support initiatives that will improve care for residents and reduce unnecessary emergency department visits and hospitalizations. Read the full announcement here.
